Your carrier will see her obstetrician for the next 24 weeks or so. OB apts will include a weight and blood pressure check, an exam, and a listen to the baby's heartbeat to continually monitor the health of the mother and the gestational carrier. These next few months may seem to take forever but you will need some time to prepare for the birth and delivery of your new baby. Some of our intended parents attend every medical appointment and ultrasound with the gestational carrier. Sometimes, because of schedules or when the gestational carrier and intended parents live far from one another, they find other ways to keep in touch about the pregnancy.
Gestational carriers and intended parents have a legal document that details all of the specifics of the relationship. However, In your delivering state (the state where your gestational carrier plans to deliver, which may be different than the state you reside in or the state that the carrier resides in), there may be some additional work for the attorney to prepare for the birth of your baby as well. Do not forget to update the attorney around the 20th week of the pregnancy.
